Here is our quick and simple ‘how to’ guide to looking after your wellies. Most of the tips below are common sense but we hope you learn something new about your cool wellies!

Firstly, keep your wellies stored out of direct sunlight preferably in a cool and dry place.  Rubber is degraded by sunlight, so to improve the life of your wellies treat them like a mogwai! keep your wellies indoors and stood up or laid out straight.  You can potentially stuff the wellies with other items (use your imagination) to help keep their shape and strength for longer. Another quick tip is to try wearing welly socks (Amazon). This can help stop the inside of your wellies getting wet and sweaty by absorbing some of the sweat (nice!).

Dry your wellies and clean them before putting them away.  We know this tip is obvious but it is really easy to throw your wellies in a cupboard, shed or garage and forget about them.  By the time you come back to them they may have been affected by mildew or some other nastyness! Some high quality wellies (such as Hunter wellies) contain a small amount of wax which is used during the manufacturing process.  This can lead to marks to rise to the surface of the wellies in warm weather.  One way to improve the look of the wellies is to use some Hunter UV Tech wellington boot polish or rubber protector (see left). It may seem like a pain but spending a little bit of time keeping your wellies in a good condition now will save you money in the long run!
